Happy Valley hosts a wealth of Special Events in every
season: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Fall is Football
& Pumpkins with all its Harvest Celebrations. Winter features
Christmas with Tannenbaum and Mistletoe, and First Night Ice
Sculptures, with Skiing and
Snow Sports in Frigid January. Spring's Blossoms
bedeck the once barren silhouettes of nature awakening, and
travelers risk fickle weather for Blue-White
activities. Summer's Glory is nature full-blown to frame
outdoor activities up and down the byways of Centre County, the
Keystone of the Keystone State. Besides the Annual array of
these Seasonal Events which form a base for short or extended
visits, let us help you with itineraries of a more esoteric nature.
They may be Artfully Evergreen and On-Going, or display the
simple Art of Our Lives in creative offerings of this charming
work called Tourism, where we offer something of Our
deepest selves to enrich Your lives, dear Traveler.

Organizers of the
Tussey Mountainback 50 Mile Relay and Ultramarathon have
announced that the 2007 event has been selected by USA Track and
Field to host the USA 50-Mile National Championships (see
attachments). This year's race will take place on Saturday,
September 22nd 2007 in central Pennsylvania's Rothrock State
Forest. Start and Finish will be at the Tussey
Mountain Ski and Family Fun Center, one mile south of Boalsburg on
SR322.
Each year, proceeds from the Mountainback Relay
support a local non-profit cause. We have a special incentive this
year to encourage your participation. Proceeds this year will be
directed to the Marine Corps League Nittany Leathernecks
Detachment's Colonel Gerald F. Russell Scholarship Fund.
About the Colonel Gerald F. Russell
Scholarship Fund
Initiated
1 May 2006, this scholarship fund honors Colonel Gerald F. Russell,
USMC (Ret), a veteran of Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Korea, and the Cuban
Missile Crisis. The scholarship provides financial support to the
dependants of eligible Centre County Pennsylvania Marine Corps
League veteran dependents. Most importantly, it also embraces the
children of ANY Centre County Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or
Marine warrior who is killed or significantly wounded as a result of
military engagements associated with the Global War on Terrorism, to
include direct support and/or associated training missions since 11
September 2001. To date, this additional obligation currently
includes four children of Army Reserve (2), National Guard (1), and
Marine Corps (1) patriots.
